I’m Currently On The Job Market

August 20, 2010

I’m currently on the job market, so I have a lot of weekdays off. Some days, it becomes difficult to come up with a reason to get dressed in actual clothes. Last week, I left the house to mail a package and get some lunch. I put on a ratty t-shirt, some shorts and a baseball cap instead of something respectable. Of course, at the restaurant, I saw a pretty lady I know.

Now, I’m not saying I’m romantically interested in her or anything, because that’s not the point. The point is I let myself down because I didn’t present the best example of me.

Cut to this evening. I needed to go buy something quickly at the Target. I almost put on the exact same outfit, but opted for nicer shorts and a button down shirt. I combed my hair instead of putting on a hat. I HAPPENED to see another pretty lady I know at the Target. Neither exchange of pleasantries went any better or worse, really, but I was much happier with the second story.

Especially being unemployed, I think it’s important to act like you give a shit because you never know when you might actually WANT to give a shit. For me, that means getting out of the college t-shirts. I guess I just wanted to say thanks for teaching me that.
