Gap Selvage Standard Fit Jeans
These are a one-wash jean, so there’s no need to soak, they’ve already been shrunk. I’m not nuts about the selvage coin pocket, but for $18, who’s to complain?

Business Week has a fascinating article about cost cutting in mass-market apparel. With cotton prices way up and manufacturing costs overall not declining for the first time in memory, low-price makers are cutting where they can. That means dropping details like watch pockets and non-plastic buttons and compromising elsewhere, too. An interesting peek behind the curtain.
(Thanks, Sean!)
Love this jacket from the Spring-Summer 2011 Gap collection. This type of simple, cotton tailored piece is a great way to turn a casual outfit into something that looks put-together.

Are you looking for a cool new duffel bag for your weekend trips out of town but cant afford to pick up a Filson? These Gap duffels look great and are incredibly affordable at only $39.50. At that price you no longer have any excuses for carrying around that old high school kit bag.

Gap Marled Crewneck Sweatshirt
I bought one of these a few months ago, and I’ve been wearing it all the time since. It’s lightweight and goes with everything. A favorite for me is jeans+oxford+this+bowtie.
This is, in my book, what all of Gap’s clothing should be: well designed, simple, classic and cheap. This year, with their new jeans and a few items like this, they’ve made some big strides in that direction. This crew-neck sweatshirt is $35, and if you have blue eyes and you don’t buy it, you’re making a terrible mistake. I got a gift card for Christmas, and I think it’ll go towards this in gray. Lovely sweatshirt.
