It’s On Sale: Nigel Cabourn at Marrkt

Derek and I are both enamored of the British menswear designer Nigel Cabourn, whose work tweaks archival military and expedition clothes in just-right ways, making a sort of Platonic ideal of classic streetwear.

Cabourn’s rarely on sale, but the English flash sale site Marrkt is currently offering a selection of items, along with some stuff from Highland 2000 and Edwin Vintage. Lots of beautiful outerwear for those of you who need coats for the fall and winter cold.

As usual, the site is by invitation, and if you’d like to use ours, we get a kickback.

It’s on Sale: Levi’s Vintage Clothing on Vente Privee
Vente Privee is just playing the hits these days and brings back LVC for a flash sale this morning. VP’s LVC sale includes both their reproduction denim cuts (LVC’s repros are some of the best out there) as well as leather jackets and other clothing at significant discount (I bought my Menlo leather from a previous VP sale). If you haven’t joined VP yet, feel free to use our link.

It’s On Sale: Wolverine 1000 Mile at Vente Privee

It’s on Sale: Anniversary Sale at Neighbour

Vancouver’s Neighbour (that “u” lets you know it’s Vancouver, British Columbia) is having a sale to celebrate its third anniversary. Nearly all their stock is 20% off, including a lot of spring/summer and staple items. Basic shipping to the U.S. is a flat $15, which is better than you get from many U.S. stores. The sale includes Unis’s popular, slim chinos, Our Legacy dad-wash jeans, Patrik Ervell’s architectural normcore, Neighbour’s own Scotland-made shaggy shetland sweaters, Shuron sunglasses, and Porter accessories, as well as other good stuff like Bresciani socks and Frank Leder’s interesting, Deutsch take on folkwear. Sale ends April 13, and sales are final.

It’s On Sale: Barbour Bedale
Nordstrom has the Barbour Bedale jacket on sale for 33% off, putting it at $254. Not cheap, but it’s an incredibly useful and versatile jacket. Get a matching waxed cotton hood and you can have yourself a rain jacket as well.
I recommend sizing down if you buy one. True-to-size is cut more for wear over a tailored jacket, but the Bedale is a bit too short to really wear over a sport coat. You might also want to budget $50 or so for alternations, as this model is notorious for having short sleeves. You can have them lengthened pretty easily by bringing the jacket to any Orvis store, or by sending it to Barbour themselves.

It’s On Sale: (Almost) Everything at Bench & Loom

Bench & Loom is having an early spring cleaning. All full-priced items (except grooming products) are available at 40% off with the discount code SPRING40.

The most amazing item in stock might be this Chapal A1, although even with the discount, the jacket is pretty expensive. A bit more affordable is this rubberized Mackintosh raincoat (which is usually hard to find on sale) and this waxed Filson jacket. There are also some nice shirts available, such as this Levis Vintage Clothing chambray and this Five Brother flannel. I own the same flannel and wrote about it a few weeks ago. Note that the sizing runs really slim on Five Brother. I’m a size 36 chest, and the small is still pretty slim on me.

All sales are final and the sale ends April 2nd.

It’s On Sale: Footwear at Urban Outfitters

I have a long-standing teenage grudge against Urban Outfitters, but why let integrity and principle get in the way of a 25% discount? All footwear at UO is on sale right now, making a lot of classic casual shoes like Clark’s Wallabees or Red Wing boots one-fourth more affordable, and  unimpeachable summer sneakers like Vans Authentics downright cheap. If you download their app, you also get free shipping.

It’s On Sale: Gitman Ties at MyHabit

Among the many Marshall’s sale rack specials in MyHabit’s “Stripes and Beyond” tie sale (you can really feel the copywriters’ exhaustion in these titles) are a nice bunch of ties from American maker Gitman, better known for their shirts. The ties are mostly in the narrow width range of 2.75 to 3 inches, and in a number of good looking patterns and seasonal fabrics like cotton, linen, and cashmere/silk mixes. Most are priced from $35-$50, which is pretty much as good as you’ll see for U.S.-made ties in decent fabrics. (If you need an invite to MyHabit, use ours.)

It’s On Sale: Borrelli Shirts at Vente Privee
Italian-made Borrelli shirts are on sale at Vente Privee, the American Express flash sale site. Borrelli shirts are known for a lot of painstaking handwork, although it’s not 100% clear what parts of their shirts are hand-stitched these days. Still, they are very well-made shirts in fine fabrics that retail at $300 and up; for around $100, not bad—there are some crazy patterns in the VP selection but classic blues and whites as well. Note that the sale includes both “Luxury Vintage” and “Classic” shirts. Check the product photos—it appears the Luxury Vintage shirts are darted for a slimmer fit. If you don’t have a Vente Privee account, feel free to use our link to sign up. Read more about Borrelli at Die! Workwear.

It’s On Sale: Shoe Accessories at Sierra Trading Post

Sierra Trading Post has some good deals on shoe accessories. The first are cedar shoe trees from Woodlore, which — as I’m sure everyone reading this knows — are useful for helping your shoes keep their shape. Just insert a pair into your shoes whenever you’re not wearing them. Note, these are factory seconds, so sometimes you’ll get a pair with a slight blemish or something. I’ve bought dozens of these, however, and have never received a pair that didn’t work like it was supposed to.

There are also some shoe racks available for sale. This model looks rather tidy, but if you have a ton of boots, this model might be more useful. It’s not only expandable, thus allowing you to fill the whole width of your closet, but you can also just install the metal bars on the second and forth tiers. This will allow you to fill the rack with everything from ankle-high chukkas to tall LL Bean boots. I use the same model to organize my boots.

As usual with Sierra Trading Post, you’ll want to apply one of their coupons to get the best deals. If you sign up for their DealFlyer newsletter, you’ll get 30-40% off coupons pretty regularly. Otherwise, you can check their Facebook page, where coupon codes are regularly released. With a ~35% off coupon, you’re looking at about $12.30 for shoe trees and $16.20 for that shoe rack.
