It’s On Sale: National Standard suede sneakers
I’ve never had any hands-on experience with them, but these National Standard suede sneakers look pretty nice for the price. Originally $262, marked down at Ikkon to $131. Plain, simple, and unbranded, much like Common Projects and Kent Wang’s sneakers we like.
When you get them, you can tape the soles with masking tape, take out the shoe laces, and spray the uppers with a suede waterproofing spray if you don’t want them to get dirty. I recommend Allen Edmonds’, as it doesn’t contain any silicone (which some say can ruin your shoes).

It’s On Sale: Onward Reserve Store Credit Vouchers

Gilt City is selling store credit vouchers to Onward Reserve at 50% off. You can buy $100 of store credit for $50, $200 of credit for $100, or $500 of credit for $250. Stock is pretty decimated at this point, but there are still a few things here and there (many of which are very difficult to find on sale). I like these Barbour Bedales and Ray Ban Clubmasters most (take your true size for the Bedale if you want to wear it over a sport coat; size down one if you don’t. Also, note that the Bedale has unusually short sleeves, but you can get them lengthened for about $50 through any Barbour or Orvis store).

It’s On Sale: Cedar Shoe Trees

Sierra Trading Post just restocked their cedar shoe trees, and for today only, you can take another 30% off and get $0.99 shipping with the code SAU10515. That brings these down to about $12 a piece plus tax.

There are also some really nice looking home throws by Johnstons of Elgin, but unfortunately, the discount code doesn’t work on clearance items.

It’s On Sale: Men’s Accessories at Berg & Berg

Berg & Berg just opened a 10-day online “outlet” sale. Previous collections and samples have been marked down by 40-60%. I think this cotton gingham tie would look pretty nice with a cotton or linen sport coat, and this orange scarf would pair well with a green, waxed cotton Barbour jacket. Both cost about $37.

It’s on Sale: Barney’s

Barney’s has added more items to its sale and dropped prices on stuff already on sale, discounting some things to 60% off. Although items like this Perfecto by Schott leather jacket or these Viberg boots are still far from inexpensive, they’re exceedingly well-made and handsome pieces in normal colors that don’t often last at deep discount. Also worth a look: Ovadia & Sons shirts, Zimmerli underwear, Drake’s accessories, Crockett and Jones shoes, and a surprisingly large selection of Engineered Garments.

Allen Edmonds Tent Sale

Allen Edmonds’ Tent Sale starts today. 15-50% off all factory second shoes and select accessories. That puts the black Park Avenue oxfords and the brown Strand wingtips you see above at $199 each. You can find more information about the sale here and here.

Paul Stuart Spring Sale

Paul Stuart’s spring sale just started. Prices aren’t cheap, but the goods look tempting. I like these dark brown wingtips on sale for $296 and some of the trousers, which start at $138. Unfortunately, sale items can only be returned for merchandise credit. Pretty dicey gamble unless you can stop by their store in New York City to see how things fit, but if you can, this seems like something worth checking out.

(Update: A couple of astute readers pointed out to me that the wingtips above are made from bookbinder leather. Best to stay away, especially at this price. Yikes).

It’s On Sale: Men’s Accessories at Exquisite Trimmings

Exquisite Trimmings just put on their mid-season sale. About 200 items have been discounted by up to 60%, and that includes a range of nice accessories from brands such as Drake’s, Patrick Johnson, and Antonio Muro. Customers outside of the EU can deduct another 20% at checkout for not having to pay European taxes. That puts the Drake’s ties you see above at $68 and the pocket squares at $44.

You can check out the full list of items on sale here

Barney’s Warehouse Sale

Barney’s Warehouse has been continuing to do price drops. Jackets from Tokihito Yoshida’s last collection with Barbour are now on sale for about $200, which is the lowest I’ve ever seen them go. There are also some Battistoni shoes at $175, Guy Rover shirts at $79, and Inis Meain sweaters at $79.

You can see the full list of brands here. Note, all sales are final.

It’s On Sale: Brooks Brothers Navy Suit

Rue La La is having a sale on a bunch of Brooks Brothers stock. Included is a Brooks Brothers navy suit, which you see above. It’s not labeled as such in the description, but I’m pretty sure this is part of the Golden Fleece line - their premium line - which is usually made with more handwork and higher-end materials. It’s also made with a full canvas, which you can see labeled in one of the close up photos of the jacket’s interior. The retail on these is $1,900, but available on Rue La La for $499.

The cut here is the Fitzgerald, which is the slimmer of their two traditional models (the other being the Madison). I tried on the Fitzgerald about six years ago, and thought it was a pretty nice fit without being skinny. You may want to stop by a local Brooks Brothers to try one on if you’d like to be sure. Rue La La also accepts returns.
