It’s On Sale: Luciano Barbera at Vente Privee
Vente Privee is offering a broad variety of Luciano Barbera clothing, from suits to sportcoats to ties, for about 80% off. It’s On Sale: Select Items at Sid Mashburn

Sid Mashburn’s sale just started. Discounts aren’t that deep, but the products are nice. Somethings that caught my eye:

It’s On Sale: Eastland Made-in-Maine Moccasins
For some reason, Eastland’s Made-in-Maine line has never really caught on with the menswear crowd. I’ve never really been sure why, given the popularity of similar brands such as Rancourt and Quoddy, but the shoes are great for their niche — Made-in-Maine moccasin construction, with leathers that are more often than not from Horween. There’s some stuff one can nitpick about the quality, but they’re all-in-all a pretty good purchase once they go on sale.
On the upside, their under-the-radar presence means that they often get discounted much more than other brands. Like now, at East Dane, where the brand’s Falmouth mocs can be had for $124. Pretty good price for what I think is a nice casual shoe.
East Dane has also other shoes from Eastland Made-in-Maine and Quoddy you can check out.

It’s On Sale: Drake’s Accessories

Drake’s just started their online sale. Lots of ties, pocket squares, and scarves on discount — mostly from their spring/ summer stock, but they also have plenty of year round silks in there, and even a couple of wools you can save for fall. The company seems to have gotten a bit more creative with prints this season. Everything looks great, but as usual, I gravitate towards the more basic stuff. Above: Some solid colored, textured ties in Shetland wool and a wool/ silk/ linen blend; a navy silk foulard; and a classic regimental

Customers outside of the EU can deduct 20% from their total order for not having to pay VAT (European taxes). And depending on what you’re buying, you might find cheaper prices at East Dane, No Man Walks Alone, Barney’s, and Carson Street Clothiers.

It’s On Sale: Inventory’s Inventory

Inventory is a great shop for casualwear. Much of what they sell is workwear, although they also have some nice nondescript basics from brands such as John Smedley and Margaret Howell. At the moment, they’re holding their spring/ summer sale, where select items have been discounted by up to 30%.

Included in the stock are sweatshirts from The Real McCoys in grey, navy, and oatmeal, as well as some nice (but expensive) field and deck jackets from the same company. There are also some good deals on workwear shirts from Engineered Garments and Orslow, as well as a pair of plain toe bluchers from Trickers. Lastly, I really like the Needles Rebuild line. Some of it can be pretty wacky, but I bought a field jacket from them a few months ago and have been wearing it every so often with jeans. Just be careful with their sizing. Since every piece is uniquely made, the cuts can vary slightly even within the same size.

It’s On Sale: Everything at San Francisco’s Club Monaco
This one is very city specific, but good Lord — we’ve posted so much about crazy sample sales in NYC that I often feel left out as Bay Area resident. This one is to help even the score a bit.
For folks living in or near San Francisco, the Club Monaco store at the Westfield Mall is closing down for a remodel. To clear everything out, they’re holding a storewide sale, with discounts of up to 75%, even on sale items. One StyleForum member went today and bought a Reigning Champ sweatshirt for $22, a pair of Clarks Wallabees for $27, a Barbour Bedale for $94 (!), and a Barbour Wessex jacket for $137. If there are some non-cotton sweaters there left, I’d recommend those too. They’ve been a go-to for me for years, and the price-to-quality ratio is hard to beat when they’re on deep discount.

It’s On Sale: Footwear at Leffot

Leffot is one of the best men’s footwear stores in the US, if not the world. Brands such as Edward Green, Saint Crispin’s, and Alden are all carried here, sometimes in exclusive make-ups.  Prices are, however, really expensive. On the upside, they’re having a sale right now, with select shoe models discounted by up to 30%. One of the best looking pairs is this Saint Crispin’s austerity brogue, although even with the discount, it’s very pricey. For something more affordable, check out these suede Alden chukkas

It’s On Sale: Sartoria Formosa Suits

There’s a really nice sale going on at No Man Walks Alone, and included in the sale stock are Sartoria Formosa suits. Sartoria Formosa is a Neapolitan bespoke tailoring house that was once famous for their double breasted cuts. The tailor who founded the company, Mario Formosa, dressed many of Italy’s most famous stars in the mid-20th century. He passed away some years ago, unfortunately, but his son has taken over to both continue and expand the business.

Some of the new things they’ve introduced to their bespoke service are ready-to-wear and made-to-measure lines, such as those carried by No Man Walks Alone. The jackets feature many signature details for Neapolitan tailoring: a hand inserted, shirred sleevehead known as spalla camicia, soft shoulders, and very light constructions. These are also handmade from fabrics that are typically only available to bespoke customers. This navy suit, for example, is made from a very breathable tropical wool known as Fresco — a high twist, open weave cloth that has a bit of a texture to it, so you can wear the jacket and pants separately if you wish (silky, smooth fabrics should only be worn as part of a suit).

Prices aren’t cheap, but with the sale, they’ve been discounted to $1,738 for a suit. That’s a great price for the kind of tailoring and fabrics used, and unheard of for this kind of Neapolitan styling. The only catch? Sizes are limited and sale items aren’t returnable. There is a tailoring credit of $140, however, and if you’re in or near NYC, you can make an appointment to stop by No Man Walks Alone’s offices (so you can try the stuff on in person). You can also see examples of how the silhouette looks here, here, and here

It’s On Sale: Nigel Cabourn at Marrkt

The British flash sale site Marrkt is very quiet, but they do have semi-annual sales on the brilliant English designer Nigel Cabourn. Their Spring/Summer sale just went up, and it’s really full of great stuff. The green military shirt-jacket pictured above is one I own and wear all the time, and the other two are ones I wish were on sale in my size.

Orders ship to the US free(!), and folks outside of the EU get a 20% discount in the cart to account for VAT. Remember that these are Euro sizes so drop ten - I’ve found that a 52 is a pretty true 42.

Here’s our invite if you don’t have an account already.

It’s On Sale: Aldens

Readers living in or near Vancouver, Canada might be interested to know that Roden Gray is offering a 20% discount on all Aldens. The deal is only good for in-store purchases, however, and the promotion starts tomorrow (Friday) and ends Sunday.
