I love Collector’s Weekly, and I was particularly fascinated by this piece about vesta cases. Before about World War One and the rise of safety matches, matches were valuable and volatile. That meant if you wanted to start fires, you kept your matches in a case, which was often elaborate and beautiful. I’ve always loved these cases, and in fact have collected a few remarkable ones in our shop. They’re perfect little treasures, irrespective of what you keep in them (or if you carry them at all).
