Once a week, we like to highlight what some of our readers are wearing.
It’s officially the first week of summer here in the northern hemisphere, and of course the weather in many places is turning to heat and humidity. While it can be tempting to forget any notions of style or self-expression in such circumstances, and simply resort to shorts and flip-slops, it’s not entirely necessary. Dressing well in heat involves selecting the right fabrics, fits, and features that allow air to move and sweat to evaporate. Linen, light cotton, tropical wool; looser cuts, no socks, short or rolled sleeves; unbuttoned jackets, loosened collars, turned up cuffs; every little element can be adjusted to help with the heat.
Some of our readers are making just such adjustments, and doing so admirably this week.
Nick (@ta.ska.shi) is embracing the day in an embroidered shirt, braided belt, jeans, and sockless loafers. Alex (@awcine) is looking cool in a loosely buttoned yellow striped short-sleeved shirt, pleated pants, and deck shoes. Jim (@jims.whims) is standing tall in a loose orange striped vacation shirt, brown trousers, and sockless woven loafers. M. Tandre (@g_tandre) is ready for business in a brown linen suit, seersucker popover, and suede loafers. Finally, Shane (@shanejoseph_) is soaking up the sun in a dad hat, striped purple popover, pleated cream trousers, and suede pennies.
