If cared for, a good sweater will become a faithful friend for years to come. For example, I have an Aran Island crewneck and a Peter Storm cardigan, both from almost 25 years ago, that are just now coming into their own. The Scottish-made lambswool Lands’ End charcoal-grey v-neck from 20+ years ago now has black suede patches on the elbows, the bottom ribbing is beginning to fray, and wearing it is like meeting an old friend downtown for coffee. Enjoyable.
