There’s something comforting about having a well-fitted, basic suit or sport coat. Something you can toss on without concern for any occasion that calls for it (and some that don’t), confident that the fit and drape are just so. It’s a good framework for one to work out subtler details of color, texture, fabric, and form. Although the tailored jacket continues to wane in popularity, it’s a smart idea to have a few good options you can turn to at any time without worry.
