Our Beloved Sponsors

July 31, 2018

We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the support of our sponsors. So twice a month, we like to give them a special shoutout. It allows us to recognize them for their support and update our readers on our sponsors’ latest happenings.

The Hanger Project is the largest online source for high-end garment care supplies, from specially moulded hangers to Saphir shoe care products. This month, they’re introducing their new shoe recrafting service to help transform your used shoes into like-new condition. There are two tiers. Their Silver Cup recrafting comes with a full resoling and polishing service, along with new shoe laces and a one-year guarantee. The next step up, which is the Sovereign Grade, gives you the same but with added channeled soles, which hide your soles’ stitching.

Proper Cloth just brought back their special run of washed denim shirts. These have been tremendously popular for the company in the past couple of years. Washed denim button-ups are usually only available off-the-rack — custom shirtmakers can’t offer them because the finishing process requires big-batch runs, which is impossible when you’re doing one-offs. Off-the-rack shirts, on the other hand, don’t give you the flexibility of custom tailoring. Proper Cloth’s denim shirts bridge that gap. They give you a custom fit and an enzyme wash that makes the fabric look a little more worn-in and casual. They also have a ton of new fabrics available this time around, such as washed indigo Aloha prints and seersuckers. Just note that the offer is closing in a few days and then they’re off to production.

Readers probably know about Chipp’s neckties. They’re made in NYC from the same English and Italian silks used at top end shops, but cost a fraction of the price. What some may not know, however, is that Chipp also has a program for fully custom-made suspenders. Paul, the shop’s founder, says: “Who else offers twenty-four different colors and stripes for suspenders, and allows people to order with their choice of leather kips and metal adjusters?” No one that we know of. Each pair of suspenders is made in NYC and available for sale at $45.50.

If you’re looking for some new neckwear, Dapper Classics has made-in-USA neckties — some of which are even on sale right now. They include a range of silks and linens in bright, summer-ready colors, as well as your more basic grenadines. Their emerald green grenadine, for example, can be worn with everything from navy blazers to brown tweeds to tan gabardine suits. Their linen ties are also wrinkle resistant, so you can add a touch of summer to a tailored outfit without looking like you just pulled your tie out of a sock drawer.

Luxire is popular on StyleForum for being an affordable, online custom tailor that can essentially make anything you want — trousers with unusual waistband closures, casual dress shirts, and outerwear of nearly any kind (including the belted safari pictured above). Their operation is based in India, which is how they’re able to keep costs down, but they also use high-end materials sourced from around the world (often fabrics milled in Europe). The combination of affordable custom tailoring and quality materials has attracted many online style enthusiasts, who send Luxire photos of things they’d like to have made, which then gets produced to their measurements. You can see some of their recent commissions on their Instagram page.

Finally, our thanks to Huckberry. They have a new and exclusive capsule collection they collaborated on with Faherty. The collection includes some summery printed short-sleeved shirts, slim chinos, and beach-ready hooded pullovers. There’s also some “beach to bar” shorts that are made from a quick drying fabric, so you can use them as swim trunks, but come in a basic, non-elasticized waist closure so they can also double as your day shorts. Additionally, Huckberry has some new watches from Hemel and the Timex x Todd Snyder collection, one of which you see above.
